During a meeting with the United Russia administration on Tuesday, Medvedev recalled that the single voting day will be held in 77 regions of Russia on October 14 (including gubernatorial elections in five regions).
"The party needs direct competition with other political forces. It's normal. We'll show what we can do and we will see what party mechanisms can be intensified," he said.
Medvedev said these elections will turn over a new leaf in the development of Russia's political system, saying he hopes that "United Russia will be competing well with other political forces within the framework of the law."
