Follow the link to learn moreMoscow Regional Election Commission Chairman Irek Vildanov has criticized the Euronews television channel's videos in support of Yevgenia Chirikova who runs for mayor in Khimki, but said the broadcast videos were formally legal.
"It was outrageous, in my opinion, although the videos cannot be challenged formally. Euronews' broadcasts are intended for the whole of Europe, not for Khimki. But if you advocate respect for law, why shouldn't you respect the laws of the country you are broadcasting to?" he told the media on Sunday.
"Euronews is only laying the candidate open to attack. We keep monitoring the situation," he said.
No official comments from the Euronews television channel on Vildanov's claims are available to Interfax.
