Authentic and exuberant, shawls form the town of Pavlovsky Posad are a treat for the eye. Decorated with traditional Russian patterns, the shawls are made of natural fibers as wool, cotton and silk.

Founded by local peasant Ivan Labzin, the Pavlovo Posad Shawl Manufactory has been based in the town for nearly two centuries. The heyday of the factory came in the late 19th century when its shawls were even delivered to the Romanov court. The Grand Duchess Alexandra Petrovna was a keen devotee of the handicraft.

Today, the factory produces approximately 800 kinds of shawls, kerchiefs, scarves, cache-nez and tablecloths that preserve the longstanding traditions of the original Russian craftsmen. Although these are considered traditional adornments, the shawls are still quite fashionable among Russian women.
