Life span in Moscow has almost reach the level common in Europe, said Moscow's acting Mayor Sergei Sobyanin.

"Muscovites' life span has increased considerably in recent years, reaching 75.5 years, which is almost as long as in Europe," he said.

The birth rate has risen, too, he said.

"About 130,000 births were registered in Moscow in 2012, an absolute record over the past decade," he said.

Demand in social workers will continue increasing in Moscow with every passing year, Sobyanin said.
