Russian President Vladimir Putin has congratulated Hassan Rohani on his election as the President of Iran, the Kremlin press service said on Sunday.
"The congratulatory message of Putin expressed confidence that the activity of H. Rohani in that high position will promote prosperity of the friendly state of Iran and further strengthening of Russian-Iranian relations," the message said.
The Russian president also "confirmed the readiness for sustainable development of mutually beneficial cooperation with Iran in various areas for the sake of regional security and international stability," the press service said.
