The pyramid-shaped buoy is almost 1.5 meters tall. It is painted red and white as required by international shipping rules. A plaque with a description of the meteorite, which exploded over the Chelyabinsk region on February 15, is attached to one side.

The 320-kilogram pyramid is attached to a 120-kilogram anchor with a 14-meter-long chain. The city spent over 50,000 rubles of its budget on the monument.
The city administration expects the buoy to become a tourist attraction.
However, the monument was vandalized shortly after its unveiling. The police are looking for vandals who riddled the pyramid with gunshots.
The meteorite blasted through the sky in the Chelyabinsk region on February 15. The shock wave shattered windows and damaged roofs of residential, industrial and public buildings. More than 1,600 people were hurt and the total damage was roughly valued at one billion rubles.
