Follow the link to learn moreRussian cosmonauts will have scientific tasks in their next spacewalk from the International Space Station (ISS) in August 2014, Energia Corporation scientific and technical center head Alexander Kareli said.
"There will be mostly scientific tasks in the next spacewalk planned for this August; it will have practically no service tasks," he told reporters on Thursday.
The cosmonauts will install gadgets for the Expose-2 experiment, take swabs from a porthole for the Text experiment, replace samples for the Biorisk and Vynoslivost experiments and launch the Russian-Peruvian micro-satellite Chasqui I , Kaleri said.
In his words, the mission will be accomplished by Oleg Artemyev and Alexander Skvortsov who have just returned from their first spacewalk.
Kaleri also commented on problems the cosmonauts had experienced in mounting an antenna array on the ISS surface. The cosmonauts had to fasten one of the three clamp bands with wire.
"Cosmonauts always carry something to deal with an extraordinary situation. Wire is a regular fastening tool," he said.
