Police have detained opposition activist Alexei Navalny near the Ritz Carlton Hotel in the center of Moscow after he appeared there on Tuesday evening, so violating the terms of his house arrest.

Police have detained opposition activist Alexei Navalny near the Ritz Carlton Hotel in the center of Moscow after he appeared there on Tuesday evening, so violating the terms of his house arrest.

Policemen detained Navalny surrounded by his associates and journalists and escorted him to a prisoner transport vehicle at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday, an Interfax correspondent reported from the scene.
