18 Turkish citizens held in Moscow on suspicion of terrorism

Eighteen Turkish citizens with false IDs have been arrested in Moscow and are now being checked on the subject of involvement with terrorist organizations, a source in law enforcement agencies told Interfax.

On March 29 security and police forces conducted a special operation, the source said.

"The arrested individuals were found in possession of forged documentation," he said.

"Currently, the arrested individuals are being identified and checked on the subject of the involvement with international extremist and terrorist organizations," the source said.

The Turkish Embassy to Russia has declined to comment on the situation around the arrest of 18 Turkish citizens with forged documents in Moscow.

"At this moment, there is no comment," the Turkish diplomatic mission told Interfax.
