The Russian mine disposal unit started working directly in the historical part of Palmyra, 158 explosive objects were rendered safe, the Russian center for reconciliation of the warring parties in Syria said.
"The specialists from the Russian Armed Forces' International Mine Action Center continued mine-clearing efforts at cultural heritage and infrastructure facilities in the city of Palmyra. Russian mine disposal experts have searched through 12 hectares in the historical part of the city and have defused 158 explosive objects in the past 24 hours," says a center's bulletin published on the Russian Defense Ministry website on April 5.
