Moscow expects common sense to prevail in Russian-Japanese relations

Russian FM says Japan's position is not what Moscow awaits.

The Russian-Japanese relationship is developing not exactly the way Moscow would like it to develop, but it hopes common sense will ultimately prevail, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said on April 16.

"Unfortunately, [bilateral relations] are developing not in a way we would like them to develop, again, because of the position assumed by Japan, which has joined the sanctions over Ukraine," Zakharova said on RT.

"There is the hope now that common sense and pragmatism will prevail," she added.
