The so-called 'regime of calm' in Syria, on which Russia and the United States agreed on April 29, will not apply to regions where ISIS is acting, Maj. Adrian Rankine-Galloway of the U.S. Department of Defense said.

"This 'regime of calm' will not impact our counter-ISIS operations, as it is occurring outside of areas plagued by ISIS," Rankine-Galloway told Interfax.

The U.S.' strategy in Syria has not changed and remains focused on training, consulting, and assisting local Syrian forces fighting ISIS, he said.
