Follow the link to learn moreRussian President Vladimir Putin and the head of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Christine Lagarde, met on the sidelines of the G20 summit in Antalya, Turkey, on Sunday.
"We have long cooperated with the IMF in various capacities, and we are keen to continue this work, hoping for stability of our relations," said Putin while opening the meeting.
Russia supports a number of IMF members in their bid to reform this organization, he said.
"There are other issues as well, we are prepared to talk on any topic," said the head of state.
For her part, Lagarde said she is glad to talk to the Russian president. She said she shares the impatience and irritation at the failure to implement decisions to reform the IMF, including those regarding quotas.
"From the viewpoint of implementing this reform, this will most likely happen in the next two months; if not, the issue will take several more years," said the IMF managing director.
