Maria Sharapova reached the Olympic tennis quarterfinals Wednesday with a hard-fought three-set win over Germany's Sabine Lisicki.

The Russian third seed battled to a 6-7 (8), 6-4, 6-3 win.

Sharapova’s quarterfinal opponent will be the unseeded Kim Clijsters, who defeated 11th seed Ana Ivanovic in straight sets in the third round earlier Wednesday.
