Follow the link to learn moreTen residents of the village Druzhba in the Tselinny district of the Altai territory have been admitted by the infectious disease department of the Biysk city hospital. The village had an anthrax outbreak, the regional emergency situations department said. Laboratory tests confirmed the anthrax diagnosis for two patients, it said.

Earlier reports said that eight people were hospitalized and 14 were put under medical observation.
Disinfection of homes continues in Druzhba, the department said. Motorized and foot patrols ensure order and admission through checkpoints only.
The anthrax outbreak in Druzhba killed one person. The village was put under quarantine and local residents were prohibited to bring cattle to pastures. Villagers had a meeting on Sunday. The police blocked the Tselinny district perimeter to prevent exports of meat and dairy products. Specialists of the Federal Consumer Rights and Healthcare Service and territorial veterinarians are working in the village. The territorial authorities said the infection had been confined.
A criminal case was opened on the counts of a breach of sanitary-epidemiological norms causing death by negligence (Part 2, Article 236 of the Russian Criminal Code).
