Kasyanov slams Duma for passing

December 19, 2012 RBTH, Interfax

Mikhail Kasyanov, formerly Russian prime minister and today an opposition leader, has slammed Russia's State Duma for passing an "ugly" bill to prohibit the adoption of Russian children by Americans.

"The Russian authorities have once again demonstrated to the entire world that they deliberately ignore the universal values that underlie the civilized world," Kasyanov, who is one of the leaders of the Republican Party of Russia-People's Freedom Party (RPR-PARNAS) coalition, told Interfax on Wednesday.

"There have even been critical comments on this draft law in the Federation Council. For this reason, in criticizing it, I emphasize that it's the State Duma and not parliament," he said.
