Russia still has no intention to conduct a land operation in Syria, and President Vladimir Putin has repeatedly said that this is the matter of an airborne component, Kremlin press secretary Dmitry Peskov has said.

"President Putin has said once and again that Russia's involvement will be limited to the airborne component and that the land operation is not on the table. Besides, I would like to remind you that the Russian Aerospace Forces' operation is being carried out for the sake of support to the land offensive of the Armed Forces of the Syrian Arab Republic," Peskov told reporters on Tuesday.

He was asked whether the deployment of forces in addition to aircraft was possible in Syria due to the new circumstances. Putin said at a conference on Monday night that Russia would bolster its activity in Syria.
