Cossack culture through the prism of hip hop

Art is life for the Cossack artist, Maxim Ilinov. He paints and writes hip hop songs.

Ilinov’s band is called Ataman’s Palace (Atamansky Dvorets). They already have to full album’s under their belt. Their songs are dedicated to Cossack’s modern life. In their songs, the rappers bring up spiritual themes and issues of ethnic identity.

"We have something to say and we don’t do it for money or fame, we do it so that others get to our people, our traditions, and our way of life, we were able to do that through the prism of hip hop", - says Maxim Ilinov.
