Russia, U.S. may elaborate Mars mission planning standards

The Central Research Institute of Machine Building (TsNIIMash) and NASA have agreed in Bordeaux, France, on the possible elaboration of standards for joint deep space missions, for instance, to asteroids or Mars.

The Central Research Institute of Machine Building (TsNIIMash) and NASA have agreed in Bordeaux, France, on the possible elaboration of standards for joint deep space missions, for instance, to asteroids or Mars.

"Negotiations between TsNIIMash mission control center specialists and NASA on the joint work on the DTN technology were of special significance. The technology will improves quality of data transfer to the Earth, which is important for receiving satellite data and solving control tasks," says a report published on the TsNIIMash website.
