The Russian State Duma at a plenary session adopted a bill on the protection of intellectual rights on the Internet in the second and third readings on Friday.
There were 337 deputies that voted for and one voted against with no abstentions.
The document adopted was entitled "amendments to legislation on the protection of intellectual rights in information and telecommunication networks.
For the second reading deputies decided only to extend the amendments to cinema movies and television movies - whereas before it was to also cover cinema and audio production.
The law envisages the right to block the operators of Internet resources that illegally show "films, including cinema movies, television movies or information on how to get them."
The main mechanism for dealing with pirate content are the measures adopted by the court following appeals by the legal owners.
The document comes into force on August 1 2013.
