Follow the link to learn moreThe construction of a high-speed railway to link Moscow and Kazan could last longer than planned, said Russian Railways (RZD) President Vladimir Yakunin.
"The rigid deadline set for the construction of a Moscow-Kazan railway - the World FIFA Football Cup - could be missed. I don't think I can say for sure that a railway will have been laid to Kazan by this time. This will depend on the project," he said at a press conference in Yekaterinburg.
Concerning the stretch from Kazan to Yekaterinburg, he said it could be built by 2020.
"It's my opinion as an expert. Again, it would be premature to speculate before we see the project," Yakunin said.
