Follow the link to learn moreThe Belarusian Investigative Committee has proposed an inspection of Belarusian Potash Co. as part of an inquiry against Russian potash miner Uralkali CEO Vladislav Baumgertner, committee spokesman Pavel Traulko told Minsk's Capital Television Station.
"The Investigative Committee of Belarus continues its criminal inquiry that was opened against chairman of the Belarusian Potash Co. supervisory board Vladislav Baumgertner. Vigorous investigative measures are being taken at the moment. The suspect is being interrogated and accounting documents are being confiscated and examined," he said.
"Apart from that, the Investigative Committee asked the State Oversight Committee of Belarus to inspect the financial and business operations of Belarusian Potash Co.," the spokesman said.
"One of Uralkali's key stockholders Suleiman Kerimov is also under investigation for his possible involvement in these alleged offences. Investigators have every reason to start a criminal inquiry against [Kerimov] and declare him internationally wanted. I believe that one can expect the opening of this criminal case in the near future," Traulko said.
Chairman of the Belarusian Potash Company's Supervisory Council Vladislav Baumgertner has been taken into custody in Belarus. Four other of the BPC's executives have been placed on national and Interpol most wanted lists. Read more >>>
