Follow the link to learn moreThe Russian Navy's tactical group deployed in the Mediterranean has held a drill to practice skills for rescue missions and the administration of aid to the wounded in the event of a war, a spokesman for the Russian Navy's Main Staff told Interfax-AVN on Tuesday.
"Such drills are part of the crews' combat training. Russian crews must stand ready to save people overboard and aid the wounded. We will not remain inactive. I hope our aid will not be requested," he said.
The spokesman also said that if military operations begin off the Syrian coast, the Russian ships will stay at a sufficiently far distance from potentially dangerous areas.
"If necessary, they will provide aid to Syrian naval crews and refugees in the direct vicinity of Russian warships. This complies with all international standards," the spokesman said.
A few days ago, Russia sent several warships into the Mediterranean Sea. In the navy’s main headquarters, they believe that, if necessary, they will be able to seriously influence the situation in the region. Read more>>>
