Follow the link to learn moreAn Ilyushin Il-62 aircraft of the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry airlifted a group of citizens of Russia, Syria and a number of CIS member-states from Syria to Russia on Tuesday, Emergency Situations Ministry press secretary Irina Rossius told journalists.
"The Il-62 en route from Latakia landed at the Domodedovo airport. It brought 76 people who wished to leave Syria," Rossius said.
The aircraft brought 47 Russians, 22 Syrians, six Ukrainians and one Moldovan to Russia, she said, noting that the majority of the passengers were women and children.
A total of 960 citizens of Russia and other CIS member-states have left Syria in 2013.
A Russian government aircraft evacuated 89 nationals of the Commonwealth of Independent States, including 75 Russians, from Syria. The majority of the Russian evacuees are women and children. Read more>>>
