"Vasily Serafimovich Sinaisky is not working for the Russian Bolshoi Theater as of December 3, 2013. After talking to him, I made a decision to grant his request," Urin told Interfax on Monday.
Urin expressed his regrets about Sinaisky's resignation.
"I regret that Vasily Serafimovich has made this decision in the middle of the season, virtually two weeks prior to the opening night of the opera Don Carlos by Verdi, in which he is the music director and conductor. The theater's further creative plans were associated with him, too," Urin said.
At the same time, Urin said he has no right to hold the head conductor spot. "He is a free man and he has a right to make his decisions."
Interfax currently has no comments from Sinaisky.
