Follow the link to learn moreA plane of the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry will bring 14 tonnes of humanitarian aid to Syria and take aboard citizens of Russia and CIS countries wishing to return home, ministry spokesman Alexander Drobyshevsky said.
"Pursuant to the directives from the Russian president and government to render humanitarian aid to the civilian population affected by military operations, an Ilyushin Il-76 plane of the Emergency Situations Ministry has departed for Syria with humanitarian cargo aboard," Drobyshevsky told Interfax on Tuesday.
The plane is carrying food, medicines and primary necessities with the total weight exceeding 14 tonnes, he said.
On its way back the plane will transport citizens of Russia and CIS countries who wish to leave Syria, Drobyshevsky said.
