The leader of the self-proclaimed Lugansk People's Republic (LPR), Valery Bolotov, has announced total mobilization of the population, the LPR said on its official website on Thursday.

"We are conducting full mobilization of the population to reinforce the army. We urge everyone who can hold a firearm to join the ranks of the LPR army. Voluntarily, honestly and conscientiously," Bolotov said in a statement posted on the website.

"Human resources are not infinite. There are still some, and the Ukrainian authorities will run of the people capable of conducting hostilities at least in some way," Bolotov said.

"We need people to realize that and stop being carefree, to mobilize themselves and get into a new, military mind frame that knows no mercy for the enemy," Bolotov said.
