"The U.S. embassy has annulled our colleague Totoonov's visa that had been issued to him before he was put on the sanction list along with a group of Federation Council members and the speaker last spring," the source said.
The sanctions were imposed on Totoonov and some other Federation Council members after Crimea became part of Russia. "Before these events, a visa had been issued to him perhaps for two or three years. When his name was submitted on the list of our delegation that should travel to the session of the Inter-Parliamentary Union to take place in the UN forum in New York at the end of August, his (Totoonov's) visas was annulled by the U.S. side. This is normal practice. We also don't allow individuals under Russian sanctions to enter our territory," he said.
