Greece allows flyover of Russian planes to Syria

Greece has allowed Russian planes to fly to Syria in Greek airspace, the Russian embassy to Greece reported on Sept.9.

"The press service of the Russian embassy confirms the reception of a permission from Greek authorities to fly in the Greek airspace," a source in the Russian embassy to Greece told Interfax when asked if the Russian side was allowed to fly humanitarian aid to Syria over the Greek territory.

"Greek authorities formalized the permission in a note dated August 31, 2015," the source said.
