An Interfax correspondent reports from the scene that the militia handed nine people to Kyiv in exchange for 11 of their supporters on a bridge in the town.
OSCE and International Committee of the Red Cross workers were present during the swap.
"Ukraine has fulfilled its preliminary agreements. They have brought the very people who had been cleared on the list," LNR representative at the Trilateral Contact Group's subgroup on humanitarian matters Olha Kobtseva told journalists.
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko confirmed the release of the nine Ukrainians. "My friends, I have good news: nine Ukrainian heroes were released from captivity today," he said on Facebook on Oct. 29.
