Lavrov and Kerry agree to promote formation of united Syrian delegation in 'Vienna format'

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry had a telephone conversation at the U.S. initiative, the sides discussed the Syrian settlement in the context of the 'Vienna format', the Russian Foreign Ministry's website said.

"The minister and the state secretary continued the discussion on the possibilities of international support to the inter-Syrian process, including the promotion of the formation of a united opposition delegation in the interests of the soonest establishment of the nationwide political dialogue and the consolidation of the stances in fighting terrorism. The sides agreed to promote these approaches at the next meeting of the 'external players' in the 'Vienna format'," the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
