Russian Foreign Ministry: Moscow not ruling out extended EU sanctions

November 10, 2015 Interfax

The sanctions introduced by the European Union against Russia will most likely be extended at a European Council meeting on Dec.  18, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Vasily Nebenzya told Interfax on Nov. 10.

"Obviously, practically, one does not have to be a prophet to understand that on December 18 [at a European Council meeting] these sanctions will most likely be extended once again," Nebenzya said.

Russia will not ask for the sanctions to be lifted, he also said. "We have long stopped paying attention to what happens there. We did not introduce the sanctions and will not plead with anyone to cancel them because common sense must prevail," the deputy foreign minister said.
