Russia and Vietnam will hold the joint military exercises for the first time in Vietnamese territory in 2016, Col. Alexander Gordeev, a spokesman for Russia’s Eastern Military District said on Nov 26., according to Sputnik News.
“One of the district's combined arms units stationed in the Amur Region will take part in the exercises,” Gordeev was cited by the news agency as saying.
Russia and Vietnam have longstanding military ties that date back to the latter’s war against the United States in the 1960s and 70s.
