Usackas said at a conference, 'Russia-EU: Current Relations and Prospects', he was almost confident that the EU standpoint would not be altered. There will be no 'bargaining' about Syria and Ukraine, and New Year gifts should not be expected, he said.
Usackas added that the lifting of the sanctions was conditioned on the complete fulfillment of the Minsk agreements.
Italian proposals regarding sanctions against Russia are a matter of procedure rather than the essence of this issue and concern the level of a decision extending the restrictive measures, Usackas said.
"What happened on Dec. 10 and the proposals made by Italy are not essential; it was a procedural issue related to the level of making a decision to extend EU sanctions against Russia," he said at the conference.
