2 ISIS adepts convicted for attempt to get on ships leaving for Turkey

The North Caucasian military district court has pronounced a verdict to resident of the Kirov region Askar Abdumuslimov and Dagestani native Albert Minatullayev, who were planning to go to Syria and join ISIS (a terrorist organization banned in Russia), the press service of the Krasnodar territorial prosecutor's office said on Dec. 14.

According to the investigation findings, Abdumuslimov and Minatullayev sought to illegally get on board passenger and freight ships leaving for Turkey from December 2014 until March 2015.

Later the defendants were planning to join armed units of the Islamic State terrorist organization and participate in combat actions in Syria, the press service said.

The defendants are found guilty of an attempt at participating in the activity of the terrorist organization, both of them are sentenced to four years in a general-security penitentiary, the statement said.
