Follow the link to learn moreThe positions of Russia and the United States on Syria are being reconciled but it is hardly possible to declare any progress as of yet, Kremlin press secretary Dmitry Peskov has said.
"The reconciliation work is being done, as you know, contacts are being maintained but it is hardly possible to declare any harmonization of the positions for now," Peskov told reporters.
As to whether Russian President Vladimir Putin is planned to meet with U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry who would visit Russia for negotiations with Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, he said, "We still do not rule out this opportunity, and we will tell you about it."
The U.S. Department of State said earlier that a meeting between Putin and Kerry was planned for Dec. 15 to discuss the Ukraine situation in addition to the Syrian problems.
