Lavrov and Kerry discuss by phone agenda of New York meeting

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry held a telephone conversation on Dec. 17.

"In development of the latest visit by the head of the U.S. foreign political agency in Moscow the sides continued the talks on the issues of settling the Syria conflict, including a next meeting [of the International Syria Support Group] in New York on December 18," says a statement, which the Russian Foreign Ministry has published on its website.

"The need to honor the consensus principle in the International Syria Support Group was confirmed," the ministry said.
