Follow the link to learn moreRussian Armed Forces General Staff Deputy Chief Lt. Gen. Igor Makushev has met with Vice-Chief of the UK Defense Staff Air Chief Marshal Stuart Peach at London's initiative, the Russian Defense Ministry's press service told Interfax.
"The sides discussed issues concerning the establishment of a direct communication link between the relevant agencies of the armed forces of Russia and the United Kingdom in order to prevent incidents on the high seas and in airspace," the press service said.
The Russia and UK military officials also "exchanged opinions on arranging events to mark the memorable dates in 2016 dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Arctic Convoys," the press service said, describing the meeting between Gen. Makushev and Air Chief Marshal Peach as constructive.
