A Russian helicopter came under attack while landing at the airport in the city of Kunduz in Afghanistan, and suffered damage, an informed source has told Interfax.
The helicopter UTair was chartered by the UN mission, the source said.
"Unknown men opened small arms fire on the Mil Mi-8 when it was trying to land at the airport in the city of Kunduz. The helicopter was carrying four crewmembers and passengers. The pilots managed to leave the gunfire zone, yet the post-flight examination showed that the helicopter had holes in the external tank, fuselage and tail," the source said.
None of the people onboard were injured, he said.
