Peskov: Moscow and Brussels not discussing possibility of UK quitting EU

February 18, 2016 Interfax

Moscow and Brussels are not discussing the possibility of the United Kingdom withdrawing from the European Union, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has said.

"It is the EU's problem. It is the European Union that will have to tackle this problem. It is not an issue on the agenda of relations between Moscow and Brussels," he told reporters on Feb. 18, when answering an appropriate question.

It was reported that at a two-day European Council session, due to open in Brussels on Feb. 18, EU leaders will undertake an attempt to satisfy UK Prime Minister David Cameron's requirements concerning EU reforms, without sacrificing their fundamental principles.
