Russia and the United States are exchanging intelligence on terrorists in Syria, says Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova.

"We are maintaining contact with U.S. representatives, the process of work on the aspects mentioned in the joint statement is ongoing, and it is ongoing quite actively, too," Zakharova said at a news briefing in Moscow on Feb. 25.

"We have launched an exchange of information, and there have been contacts with the military," Zakharova said.

Moscow was perplexed by some remarks from Washington following the conclusion of a Russian-U.S. understanding on the cessation of hostilities in Syria, which Moscow sees in fact as an attempt to call this understanding into question, she said.
