Cambodia’s Tourism Ministry has requested the government to allow visa on arrival for Russian citizens, The Khmer Times reported on April 6.
“We want to exempt the Russian tourists from applying for a visa in order to attract more Russian guests to the Kingdom,” Cambodian Tourism Minister Thong Khon said, according to the paper.
Just 55,000 Russian tourists visited Cambodia in 2015, compared to 108,000 in 2014, the paper said.
“To be able to attract Russian tourists, it would be good to have direct flights and show them the security and safety of our country and the rich culture of our country,” Khon said. “Young Russian tourists are big spenders and older Russians can stay a long time in the country.”
