Follow the link to learn moreA resident of the village of Novoselitskoye in the Stavropol territory was engaged in the attack on the local police station, a source from the district law enforcement authorities told Interfax.
"According to the preliminary information, a resident of the village of Novoselitskoye, Akayev, was one of the suicide bombers who planned the explosion," the source said.
The identity of the other militants has yet to be established, he said.
The Stavropol Territory's Prosecutor Yury Turygin said he has information on three suicide bombers who set off explosions near the district police department.
"I am now going to the accident site. There is information about three suicide bombers," the territory's prosecutor told Interfax.
"It is already known that no police officers were hurt," Turygin said.
The crime scene is now encircled by police, he said.
"A group of operatives and investigators has now begun the necessary measures. We have issued timely orders on a set of measures to tighten security in social, school and preschool establishments, including the blocking of entrances and exits to prevent outsiders from entering them," the prosecutor said.
