Follow the link to learn moreRussian President Vladimir Putin has offered his condolences to Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe on numerous fatalities caused by a series of devastating earthquakes on Kyushu Island.
According to media reports, at least 34 people killed and 3129 injured. The epicenter of the quake was near the city of Kumamoto on the southern island of Kyushu and measured at a shallow depth of 10 kilometers, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
"The Russian head of state offered words of compassion and support to the relatives and beloved ones of the dead and wished the soonest possible recovery to all those who suffered from the disaster," the Kremlin press service said.
