The company Grindex wants to convince the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) of the need to remove Mildronat from the list of substances prohibited in sports, the company's board chairman Juris Bundulis told a press conference at the Interfax central office on April 18.
Bundulis said the company "has written an open letter to WADA, to which we attached research materials and dozens of publications, and will try once again to convince it to remove Mildronat from the list from January 1, 2017."
Bundulis said the manufacturer will be happy if the substance is removed from the list earlier and said that Mildronat is essentially not a form of doping.
"We previously succeeded in convincing WADA that Mildronat should not be included in the list and the decision to include the substance in the list from January 1, 2016 came as an unpleasant surprise," Bundulis said. He said the company "has always been for honesty, evidence-based medicine, and the research it has conducted with its drugs, including Mildronat in the process of its registration."
