The Russian Prosecutor General's Office insists that a criminal case should be opened over the killing of Russian pilot Oleg Peshkov, who was shot down by a Turkish fighter plane along the Syrian border on Nov. 24, 2015.
"The Russian Prosecutor General's Office and the Main Military Prosecutor's Office have, more than once, reported improper enforcement of the criminal procedure legislation to the administration of the Russian Investigative Committee and the Main Military Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee, but no case has been opened until now, and a signal on the committed crime has not been registered," an official with the Main Military Prosecutor's Office told Interfax.
In this regard, an order was issued to the head of the Main Military Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee in April "to correct the violations of the federal legislation and organize a proper investigation."
