Russian President Vladimir Putin has expressed concerns about the high number of failures in Russian space launches recently and demanded that professionals draw conclusions.

"I want to understand, hear and look how such situations are resolved. Without any doubt, conclusions will need to be drawn," Putin said at the meeting of the state commission.

"Of course, we remain leaders, Russia remains a leader in the number of launches despite all flaws, it's a medical fact, it's good. But the fact that we have many failures is a bad thing," he said.

The president said there is no doubt that "a timely professional reaction is needed."
