Follow the link to learn moreRussian and U.S. military officials are working on spreading the cessation of hostilities regime to new districts of Syria, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has said.
"Work is being conducted, primarily by the Russian and American military..., to consolidate the cessation of hostilities regime, spread it to new districts and create optimal conditions for delivering humanitarian aid," he said at the start of his meeting with UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura.
"Certainly, it is important for us to hear your first-hand assessment of the prospects for the negotiating process because there is no alternative to a political settlement of the Syrian crisis," Lavrov said.
According to him, it is also important for Moscow to understand "to what extent all of our partners are ready to move in the direction set out in [UN] Security Council resolutions."
