Follow the link to learn moreThe deployment of the U.S. missile defense elements in Romania is a breach of the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty (INF), Russian President Vladimir Putin said.
"This is an obvious violation of the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty, because launchers, which will be deployed after a radar station is put into operation in Romania, launchers will be deployed in Poland, and they can be used to station shorter- and intermediate-range missiles," Putin said at the final meeting on military issues in Sochi on May 13.
He said the reequipping has been conducted within very brief deadlines. "And for us with you this will be really unnoticeable, what is happening there. We will even not be able to control this. And this is an additional threat to us," the president said.
