Follow the link to learn moreThe demarcation of the Russian-South Ossetian border may start in 2017, Russian special presidential representative on the delimitation and demarcation of Russia's borders with neighboring CIS countries and Russian Foreign Ministry Ambassador-at-Large Igor Bratchikov said in an interview with Interfax.
"The border treaty signed between the Russian Federation and the Republic of South Ossetia in 2015 will take effect in the near future," Bratchikov said.
"After exchanging ratification instruments, we will put together a joint demarcation commission, which will be able to start working next year," Bratchikov said.
As for the Russian-Abkhaz border, "its cartographic formalization, namely delimitation, has not yet been finished, and this work is under way," Bratchikov said.
"I want to stress that there is an agreement in relations between the two countries that the incomplete delimitation should not have a negative effect on the living conditions of our citizens residing close to the border," he said.
